Independent specialist re/insurance broker Miller has further expanded into Asia with the launch of Miller Korea, led by David Kim as Head of Korea.
Miller explained that the launch of its Korea branch marks another significant step in its expansion across Asia, including its acquisition of Japanese broker Lead Insurance Services in 2022, and the recent hire of Tokinori Kono and Satoshi Watanabe to build out an expanded set of product capabilities for Miller in Japan.
According to Miller, David Kim has a deep knowledge of the Korean market, having served in various leadership positions across the insurance sector over the past twenty-five years, including as CEO of Marsh Korea.
He also reportedly established Johnson and Higgins Korea, which Marsh subsequently acquired. Before this, he worked in the investment industry for ten years, including at Morgan Stanley in Japan.
Several other hires, including Andrew Kim, Youngkum Yoon, and Tae Hoon Kim, join David Kim at Miller Korea.
He commented on the new role, “I have been struck by the extent of Miller’s aspirations in Asia and look forward to playing an active role in helping to achieve these.
“Having worked in Korea for over 20 years, I know there is a huge opportunity and I am looking forward to working with the team to grow our presence in the region.”
